Interesting article on salt and athletes
Here's an interesting recent article on salt intake and athletes.
http://www.insidetri.com/portal/news/news.asp?item=103202
Of interest may be the statement "New guidelines presented by the
American College of Sports Medicine ACSM recommend that you take in
roughly 500-700mg of sodium and three-quarters-to-one liter of fluid for
every hour of exercise."
They also go on to discuss the idea of a low-sodium diet with sodium
supplementation during excercise specifically, but fail to mention
anything about salt capsules. The author is a coach for CTS, sponsored
by an energy bar, so there is a reference to getting your salt from your
energy bar.
Enjoy,
