Most women suffer pain in their lives and sometimes it may feel as if they are being punished for being female. Menstrual cramps are a problem for many women and not just those with irregular periods. For the ten percent of women who suffer with either endometriosis or PCOS, the complaint can be considerably worse each month. How much pain each woman will feel varies considerably with some barely able to move while other hardly feel any discomfort at all.
This is when you need some menstrual cramp relief you can count on time and time again. Pain relief pills seem to be the most prescribed option amongst women. Some brands like Pamprin are made just for this reason, but other pain relievers should work just as well. Now, it is true to say that some women do not like taking any type of oral medication but perhaps it’s now time to think about that stance.
Why waste days of your life in pain when there is no need; think about all those things that you are stopped form doing. Often the cramps are just one aspect of the discomfort because they can also be accompanied by nausea and the feeling of eating a very large meal. Because I know how painful bad cramps can be, I have had to find other forms of menstrual cramp relief. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency about it either, most months I have an awful time and then the odd cycle that is completely pain free.
A more natural method is to use a heat pad and position it on the tummy or back (it does vary), which can bring some relief. Many women that try this method are those that just prefer not to take any form of oral medication. All this is ok if you do not have those menstrual cramps that disable you, in that event a more long term solution would probably be required. The problem worsens when every month regular as clockwork you have to call in sick from your job.
To stop the situation worsening you should speak to your physician to see what menstrual cramp relief solution he can come up with. Many women find that the birth control pill is an answer and the doctor may even suggest this remedy if they know you are not currently taking it. The discomfort you feel from your cramps might be a long term problem if you have planned to get pregnant but if this isn’t the case then your doctor should be able to advise you if you are in any danger while on the Pill. You can get relief from those awful cramps if you try enough different remedies because it is only a matter of time.
